PALMER, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - Students and faculty were evacuated from Palmer High school Wednesday morning following a threat.

The threat at Palmer High School was reported to police just before 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The Palmer, Monson, and Wilbraham police departments all responded to the scene, as well as local K-9 units.

Palmer police Lt. Christopher Burns said it was a "threat" written on the property that was specific to the security of building.

Palmer High School principal Mary Lou Callahan explained in a message to parents and guardians that because of the threat, "it's in the best interest for the safety of our students and staff to dismiss students while we are investigating."

Those students that have vehicles were allowed to leave the school campus.  All other students were evacuated from the building, while they awaited transportation.

All athletic activities have been cancelled for the day.

The elementary school, right by high school, is still in session. Police a did search there as well and are maintaining a presence at all the schools in town.

At the present time, there is no safety threat to students.
