Three teenagers are lucky to be alive police said following a rollover crash in Ludlow on Friday night.

At about 10:35 p.m. police received multiple calls about an accident at the intersection of West Avenue and Lillian Street involving a vehicle that was on fire with children inside.

This according to Ludlow police Sgt. Daniel Valadas who added when officers arrived they found that all three teenagers were out of the car.

A 17-year-old male from Ludlow was driving the vehicle, which is described as a black Nissan Ultima. Inside were two 16-year-old male passengers.

Valadas told us the Nissan traveled from the westbound lane into the eastbound lane, crashed into a pole and rolled over.

“Speed was definitely a factor,” said Valadas who added that the driver is “facing misdemeanors for speeding and junior operator passenger restriction, because he's within his first six months.”

All three teenagers were transported to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield with non-life threatening injuries.

The Nissan was totaled in the accident and police had to close down a portion of the road while crews worked to the clear the scene.
