WILBRAHAM, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - Emergency crews from several communities responded to a house fire in Wilbraham Saturday night.

Wilbraham Fire Capt. Thomas Shaw told Western Mass News the call came in for a fire at a single-family home on Weston Street shortly after 6 .m.

Four people were home at the time and all made it out safe. Several cats also made it out okay.

Mutual aid was supplied by Ludlow and Palmer fire departments. One Ludlow firefighter was taken to a local hospital for smoke inhalation.

Fire officials told Western Mass News that most of the damage is in the rear of the home and that there is smoke damage all throughout.

Pioneer Valley Red Cross was called to assist the occupants of the home.

The state fire marshal was called in to investigate the cause of the fire. At this time, the fire marshal has ruled out anything electrical in nature.

The blaze is not considered suspicious.
