CHICOPEE, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - A teenager was taken to the hospital after being hit by a car Wednesday afternoon in Chicopee.

Chicopee police Officer Michael Wilk said that shortly after 3 p.m., officers were called to the intersection of Meadow and Grattan streets following a report of a 13-year-old bicyclist that was struck by a vehicle.

That teenager was transported to Baystate Medical Center with possible head injuries.

Wilk said the victim will be held overnight at the hospital as a precaution. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The intersection was closed for a time while police continued to investigate. The area has since reopened to traffic.
