Severe weather watch in effect for Western Massachusetts

Posted: Updated:

A cold front will be moving through western Mass this afternoon.  As it slides through the area there will be a few showers and thunderstorms.

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Franklin, Hampden, and Hampshire counties until 7 p.m. Thursday.

All earlier Severe Thunderstorm Warnings have since expired.

The coverage area will be less than yesterday but a storm or two could be strong to severe with damaging winds and small hail and of course, all storms could produce lightning and heavy downpours.

Storms are most likely between the hours of 1 and 6 p.m.  As we head into the evening, skies clear as it becomes breezy and less humid.

Refreshing air pushes in this evening into tonight and sets us up for a beautiful day tomorrow! It will be mostly sunny, warm and less humid with highs into the lower 80s. Tomorrow will end up being the pick of the week!

The weekend is looking like a split with sunny, warm conditions on Saturday and showers on Sunday. It will be quite a bit cooler on Sunday too with highs staying mainly in the 60s.

The first few days of June are looking pleasant with highs in the lower 70s under a mixture of sunshine and clouds.
