Police investigating shooting on Main St. in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) - Police are investigating an afternoon shooting in Springfield.

Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney said that around 1:35 p.m. Friday, officers were called to the area of Main and Central Streets for a shooting victim.

"It appears there was an argument between victim and two suspects prior to the shooting," Delaney explained.

That 19-year-old male victim, who was shot in the back and elbow, was taken to an area hospital.  His condition is not immediately known.

Delaney noted that "the victim was the intended target" and investigators are searching for two male suspects.

A handgun was reportedly recovered at the scene.
