SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

21-year-old Javier Flores of Springfield has been charged with armed robbery and assault and battery with a deadly weapon after a shooting early Sunday morning.

Another person, who is a minor, was also arrested.

Sgt. John Delaney with the Springfield Police Department tells Western Mass News that officers responded to Draper St. near Fountain St. for reports of a shooting at 1:45 AM.

"Citizens called 911 to report they heard “shots fired” and observed two light skinned Hispanic males run from the scene, one wearing a ski mask," said Delaney.

Police say a 27-year-old male was taken to Baystate Medical Center in a private vehicle in critical condition. Delaney says his condition has improved greatly over the day. He is now in stable condition.

Officers James Burgos and Dufresne arrested Flores and the minor near Carver Street when they received a 911 call from a citizen who spotted the shooters.

Flores will be arraigned in Springfield District Court Monday morning.
