FLORIDA, Mass. (AP) - The man who died when his car struck a parked flat-bed truck in the town of Florida last weekend has been identified as a former Conway selectman.
The Berkshire district attorney's office on Monday identified the victim of the Saturday morning crash on Route 2 as 65-year-old Richard Bean. He was the only occupant of the vehicle. Bean was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Recorder of Greenfield reports that Bean served two terms on the selectboard and as the town's emergency management director until earlier this year. He was also chairman of the town Energy Committee.
Selectboard Chairman John O'Rourke called Bean a "very energetic, valuable and involved member of the Conway community."
