Roosevelt Ave. in Springfield temporarily closed following 2-car crash with injuries

Posted: Updated:

A woman was hospitalized with a head injury after she was involved in a two-car accident on Roosevelt Avenue in Springfield Thursday night.

Springfield police and EMS responded to the intersection of Roosevelt Avenue and Roosevelt Terrace at about 9:15 p.m. The air bags in each vehicle deployed upon impact, police said.

Both vehicles came to a rest off the roadway.

Southbound traffic on Roosevelt Avenue was temporarily diverted onto Alton Street while police investigated the accident and crews cleaned up the scene.

Roosevelt Avenue was also blocked off at State Street.

This accident comes just days after a school bus van crashed into a utility pole on Roosevelt Avenue

Neighbors in the area told Western Mass News this is a dangerous stretch of road and that drivers need to take their time when driving on it.
