Traffic is certainly slower as drivers try to figure out their route, but it is not backed up too bad.
The construction in West Springfield started Friday night with the Department of Transportation shutting down a major intersection in the city used to get to Springfield, West Springfield, and Agawam.
The entrance ramps from Route 5 and the Eastbound part of the Memorial Bridge are shut down.
This is the first of two scheduled rotary closures. The second one is set for later this month.
Drivers who knew about the construction told Western Mass News they are avoiding it. But some who are from out of town, didn't know that this was happening this weekend.
"It surprised me. Last month I saw them setting up a bunch of stuff there and I thought something was going to happen and I guess I found out on this trip!,"said Mike Messier from Columbia, Connecticut.
This is a 79-hour road closure. The rotary should reopen on Tuesday at 5 AM.
