SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

Lowell Street in Springfield's Brightwood neighborhood was closed while police investigated a car vs. motorcycle accident that drew a large crowd Tuesday night.

The accident occurred in the area of 60 Lowell St. at about 8:50 p.m. and a large group of people subsequently gathered around the accident scene.

American Medical Response and Springfield police responded to the accident. Springfield police officers quickly closed the roadway.

One person involved in the accident was placed in a neck brace and onto a stretcher and taken to Baystate Medical Center via AMR.

On May 29, a boy on a bicycle was struck by an SUV on Lowell Street and the driver left the scene of the accident. The driver was later arrested for OUI, heroin, following a police investigation. Police say the man was in possession of an amount of heroin consistent with personal use.
