Bradley-bound flight diverted following medical emergency

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Officials say a Southwest Airlines jet bound for Connecticut was forced to divert to Buffalo when a patient suffered a serious medical emergency.

WKBW-TV reports Southwest Flight 2494 departed Chicago Midway International Airport around 12:40 a.m. Thursday. The Boeing 737 diverted to Buffalo Niagara International Airport after a passenger suffered a medical emergency. It's unclear what happened to the passenger.

Officials say the plane landed in Buffalo at about 2 a.m.

The passenger was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in Cheektowaga. The person's condition isn't known.

The aircraft took off for Bradley International Airport outside Hartford, Connecticut, at around 3 a.m.
