Dozens of professional arborists gathered in Northampton today to compete in the 27th annual New England Tree Climbing Competition.
Arborists take care of trees and this event showcases the best of the best.
But as one champion climber tells us, it's not just about having a good time up off the ground.
"It's to promote safety and education for everybody, not only just spectators but among fellow arborists," said Bear Levangie, President of New England Chapter of the Int'l Society of Arboriculture.
Among the categories today was the aerial rescue event, where arborists stage a rescue up in the air using dummies. Judges assess the climbers' technique, speed and precision as they perform their event.
