A 23-year-old man is in the hospital after an overnight shooting in downtown Springfield.
Emergency personnel were notified around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. Police said the shooting occurred near Dwight and Worthington Streets.
Lt. Richard LaBelle told Western Mass News the victim suffered a gunshot wound to the leg. The man was transported to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.
According to police, 4 male individuals were observed fleeing the scene by car. They eventually ditched their vehicle on the corner of Mulberry and Ridgewood Streets.
Lt. LaBelle said officers were able to identify these 4 men and took one into custody for trespassing in a cemetery.
The victim, who is not cooperating with police, has non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident remains under investigation.
