It's a day set aside to celebrate the american flag and the nation it represents.
In honor of Flag Day, Six Flags New England is raising a flag for three different non-profit organizations with its special Flag Day celebration.
"There are three non-profits we've been helping today: The Red Cross, Girl Scouts, and EMS, police and fire staff," said Jennifer McGrath.
Guests at the theme park are reminded to take a few moments to appreciate colors that wave freely in the wind.
Inside the park, The Girl Scouts kicked off Sunday's ceremony.
"We say our Girls Scout promise and say pledge of allegiance and we post our flag and girl scout flag," said Heather Brousseau from Coventry, CT.
Those who serve our own community received free admission. This included all EMS, police, and fire staff.
In honor of the special day, the American Red Cross hosted a blood drive at the theme park. Donors were rewarded for giving back..
"You're donating something that will save peoples lives and it does feel good because you're giving to a good cause and I got a pass to Six Flags," said Gil Martin from Agawam.
This Flag Day marks the largest blood drive at Six Flags New England with well over 100 donors.
