Emergency crews responded to Roosevelt Ave. in Springfield Saturday morning for a multi-vehicle accident that sent two people to the hospital.
Police were notified about the crash at about 7:10 a.m. Saturday.
Springfield Lt. Richard LaBelle confirmed with Western Mass News that there were injuries involved. He also said the Fire Department was called to the scene for an extrication.
The accident was located in the area of Roosevelt Ave. and Isabel Street.
Our crew on scene spoke with Springfield police officer George Jacques and he told us two people were transported to the hospital, but that there were no major injuries.
"Alcohol appears to be a factor," noted Jacques who added that one of the two drivers will be facing criminal charges going forward for an OUI. No arrests have been made at this time though as the male driver had to be taken to the hospital.
Jacques added,"The other driver doesn't appear to have any major injuries."
Police continue to investigate this accident.
