SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

Seven Springfield residents were displaced after a fire caused $40,000 worth of damage to their multi-family Forest Park home Thursday night.

Dennis Leger, Executive Aide to Fire Commissioner Joseph Conant, told Western Mass News that firefighters responded to a working fire at 32 / 34 Draper St. at about 9:25 p.m.

Leger said an electrical fire started in the ceiling of a second-floor bathroom, but could not elaborate on exactly what caused the fire.

The fire was extinguished by 10 p.m. and everyone made it out of the home safely. Firefighters began to ventilate the house with fans after the fire was completely out.

Leger said everyone made it out of the home safely.

American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.
