It's a beautiful start to the long holiday weekend as high pressure continues to build in this afternoon. With low humidity levels, light winds and near full sunshine, temperatures will top off in the lower to middle 80s, making for a nearly perfect July day! The UV index will be off the charts with the dry air in place so make sure you have plenty of sunscreen on hand.
Now the bad news! What looked like a nice holiday doesn't look so nice anymore. Moisture that was expected to stay south of the area will now slide into the northeast. High pressure will not be able to hold on. This means we can expect mostly cloudy skies and scattered showers. Exactly how much rain is still the question. Lets plan on at least some showers, mainly tomorrow afternoon from noon to 6 pm. With the cloud cover and showers temperatures will stay in the upper 60s to lower 70s. It will likely be damp and cool for The Star Spangled Springfield fireworks display, as showers come to an end. Temperatures will be in the 60s. You'll likely need the umbrella just in case but hopefully the rain will push out just in time. At this point it's still up in the air.
On Sunday, it's back to sunshine (mixing with clouds) as temperatures reach into the middle 80s! Humidity levels will start to creep up too.
The next chance of showers or storms will arrive the middle of next week as the heat and humidity build in.
