Gray, Cool Independence Day

Posted: Updated:
SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

Today looks mainly gray and cool for July. As weak low pressure tracks to our south during the day, some sprinkles and pockets of light rain will push in from the west.

Much of the rain will have trouble reaching the ground though with dry air in place above us in the atmosphere. Still, it will be damp today with some light rain showers at times.

The afternoon hours and locations west of the Connecticut River have the best chance of seeing a period of steadier light rain.

The good news is it looks as though we dry out in time for fireworks this evening. It will still be cool and
damp-feeling though and the ground may still be wet in places that do see the afternoon rainfall.

On Sunday, it's back to sunshine as temperatures reach into the middle 80s. It's even warmer Monday with the sun and highs near 90!
