On Saturday, hundreds of boys and girls from grades 5 through 12 took part in the group's weekend basketball league. This weekend marked week two of the league.
The youth basketball league in Holyoke has been attracting players in the community since 2011. The group is called the South Holyoke Safe Neighborhood Initiative.
The purpose, however, is more than just shooting hoops. The group has been working to improve the lives of South Holyoke residents by building character and actively working to rid the community of bullying.
The championships will be held on September 12th.
