Stuff the Bus with Western Mass News!

Updated:
SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

Help stuff the bus with Western Mass News, the United Way of Pioneer Valley, and Peter Pan Bus Lines.

TODAY, bring new school supplies to the Western Mass News studios at 1300 Liberty Street in Springfield from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and you'll help local kids get a head start this school year.

The United Way of Pioneer Valley is hoping to fill over 1,000 backpacks for children in communities across the area, including Springfield, Holyoke, Westfield, Chicopee, West Springfield, and South Hadley.

“Many children in our community facing homelessness don't have the tools needed to excel in school. We want to make sure that these students begin the school prepared.  Thanks to the support of our community, last summer we were able to stuff a bus of school supplies for 1,500 children in our local community," said Dora Robinson, president and CEO of the United Way of Pioneer Valley.

Some of the most needed items include:

  • No. 2 Pencils
