Storm threat diminishes as last line crosses

Posted: Updated:

Our First Warning Weather Day continues this evening after a late afternoon of torrential downpours and lots of lightning in many parts of western Massachusetts. Over 1" of rain fell in several communities in less than an hour with radar estimates showing over 2" falling in the town of Hampden. This deluge led to some brief flash flooding and a very difficult commute in spots.

We have one last chance for a downpour this evening as the front crosses. The threat will end by 9 or 10 PM in eastern areas which will be last to see the front move through. Behind the front, the air starts to dry out overnight and continues to get much more comfortable during the day Friday. With sunshine, it will be quite warm Friday. But with dew points falling into the 50s, the horrible humidity levels will be history!
