The steady, heavy rain has moved out of the area but this is not the end of the story, since there will be additional showers and storms into the early evening. A couple of storms could be strong to severe with damaging winds, heavy rain and lightning. The combination of this morning's rain and the potential for strong storms this afternoon and evening has warranted A First Warning Weather Day.
A warm front continues to lift north and now we have busted into a very humid air mass. This front was responsible for this morning's heavy rain. The area of low pressure associated with the warm front will move northeast into Canada and while it does it will drag it's cold front across western Mass later today. The combination of humidity and lift provided by the front will kick off afternoon and evening thunderstorms. These Showers and storms will come to an end this evening with partial clearing later on. Some areas of fog will develop late as well.
Tomorrow will be much improved! It will still be a bit muggy but the rain will be gone, for the most part, we can't rule out a stray shower. There will be a fair amount of sunshine around tomorrow with highs in the lower 80s.
Drier air will work in tomorrow night setting us up for a beautiful Thursday. It will likely be the pick of the week with sunny, warm and dry conditions.
