Man evades police by jumping into MA lake after break-in

Posted: Updated:

HOLBROOK, Mass. (AP) - Police say a man who tried to break in to a home in Massachusetts evaded police by jumping into a lake, where he was concealed by fog.

Authorities say the break-in happened around 9 p.m. Tuesday on the northwest side of Lake Holbrook. The man was chased away by the homeowner and police.

The suspect jumped into the water when he was spotted by an officer.

Fog obscured officers' view of the suspect.

Search and rescue crews were set up across the lake, but the suspect had not been located as of Wednesday morning.

No one was hurt and nothing was taken.
