The upper level wind pattern, the jet stream is dipping south of us for the rest of this week. This is the reason for the comfortable air mass in place. No abrupt turns in these upper winds, so we are not expecting any storminess. The pattern begins to shift northward again this weekend. This will allow an increase in heat and humidity. Along with that, the risk of a late day shower or thunderstorm especially Saturday as a cold front approaches.
The jet stream will remain north of us through most, if not all of next week. The 'dog days' of August with heat and humidity are in the forecast. Expect dew point temperatures in the 60s with afternoon highs near 90. Mid-week there is another chance for thunderstorms as the next front arrives. August may finish out with this hot and humid pattern in place.
