SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Summer time heat and humidity has arrived and it is going to be sticking around for the next several days. Hot and humid days and warm and muggy nights are on tap for much of this upcoming week thanks to high pressure off shore to our south and the jet stream lifting to the north
We are starting off with some areas of patchy, dense fog which is reducing visibility to less than a quarter of a mile in some areas. The fog will lift later this morning and today will feature mostly sunny skies, hot and humid conditions with highs approaching 90 degrees. A mild and muggy night tonight with mostly clear skies, though there once again could be some patchy fog late. Lows tonight fall back into the middle 60s.
Much of the upcoming week will feature partly to mostly sunny skies as well as hot and humid conditions. We will also introduce the chance for scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms almost every afternoon from Tuesday lasting right on into the end of the week. We may have been able to give the air conditioners a break over the last several days but it looks like they may be working overtime much of this week.
