As the summer heat continues to swelter, local consumers have been making strides to take advantage of the hottest deals that have become available throughout the Sales Tax Holiday.

Usually, 6.25% sales tax is tacked onto a purchase, however this weekend, gadgets that can be used year round are high on the list for many customers.

"This machine here is $999," says local resident and new home owner, Bill Kane, who decided to take advantage of the holiday to purchase a new snow blower.

"The best time to buy is now because when winter comes with a lot of snow, you'll pay a lot" admits Kane, who is familiar with the role that supply-and-demand plays in determining the price of goods.

The savings add up and one can even "save at least $100-125" says Kane.

Many businesses are typically closed during the weekend, however a number of them have decided to remain open for the Sales Tax-Free Weekend.

Acres Power Equipment is usually closed on Sundays, but this weekend they stayed open for the occasion and they say business is worth it"

The store claims that over 40 snow blowers were sold in just the first half of the weekend with plenty more bought on Sunday.
