HOLYOKE, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

Local business owner, Frankie, has a long history of doing what he can to give back to the community. Now, he has found a very specialized and valuable way to keep paying it forward.

After 21 years of business, and thousands of donated dollars, Frankie is continuing his mission of supporting the children of Holyoke.

Frankie says he sees first hand how a child's self esteem grows when they look into the mirror after a hair cut, and smile. He wants to see that same smile, as they walk into the classroom on the first day of school.

"There's a lot of positives going on and this is just one of many. And hopefully will see that there is good people out there and as you see today, this is the end of the event and its still packed" says Frankie.

Over 200 free haircuts were given out Sunday as well as hundreds of school backpacks, sneakers, uniforms, and school supplies.
