Exit 16 along I-91 will be closed on August 17th and 18th due to paving construction along Cherry Street.
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation is advising motorists that a detour will be in place for both Northbound and Southbound exists.
For Northbound traffic, the detour will direct vehicles to Exit 17A to Route 5 SB to Cherry Street. For I-91 Southbound traffic, the detour will direct vehicles to Exit 17 to Route 141 East to Route 5 SB to Cherry Street.
Additionally, the front entrance to the Holyoke Soldiers Home will be closed on Monday, August 17th and Tuesday, August 18th. Due to paving of the entrance to the Soldiers' Home in Holyoke on Cherry Street on Route 202, all motor vehicle travel will be directed to use the Soldier's Home rear entrance, which can be accessed via Fairmont Street from Homestead Avenue.
MassDOT encourages drivers to avoid the area and seek alternate routes to minimize delays. Those traveling through the area should expect delays and should reduce speed and use caution while traveling along the detour routes.
