SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - High heat and humidity has arrived and will remain with us for several days. High pressure at all levels of the atmosphere east of the Mississippi is responsible for this mid-summer weather for a prolonged period.
After another mild and muggy overnight with more late night and early morning fog, temperatures will soar once again Wednesday. Highs will again climb to or just shy of 90 degrees.
If you are doing any work outdoors be sure to take frequent breaks and drink plenty of water. Heat exhaustion can lead to heat stroke.
High pressure remains in control through Thursday before a cold front arrives on Friday. A new area of high pressure with somewhat less humidity will try to push in for the weekend but the cold front may slow, then erode over eastern New England keeping us in the slight chance for a shower over the weekend. But overall, the weekend is generally dry.
