Police: Springfield man shot in the leg, then arrested

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

A 20-year-old Springfield man was shot in the leg overnight and then was arrested. 

Police responding to a call for a gunshot victim around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday on Westford Avenue. 

Officers found Drez Baker with a gunshot wound to the leg.  He was transported to Baystate Medical Center. 

Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney said that investigators later learned that Baker had outstanding warrants, so they placed him under arrest him. 

Delaney noted Baker was not cooperating with the investigation into how he was shot.

Baker is charged with an outstanding default warrant from Hampden Superior Court, as well as possession of ammunition and counterfeit money.
