Greenfield PD issues warning to dog owners

Posted: Updated:
GREENFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

Beginning September 1st, summonses will be issued for failing to register dogs.

The Greenfield Police Department says they were informed by Town Clerk Deborah Tuttle that 447 dogs in town are not registered.

"By law, all dog owners or keepers must register their dogs before April 1st of each year," the Police Department said on their Facebook page.

The Department added that failing to respond to a summons may also result in a warrant for arrest.

If you have not registered your dog this year, you can call or visit the Town Clerk before September 1st to avoid going to court.
