A slow moving cold front will bring additional showers and storms to western Mass this afternoon. Storms have the potential to bring strong winds, heavy rain and lightning. In fact, we've seen some flooding across Franklin County already, where some towns picked up 2-3" of rain in less than 3 hours.
The threat of strong to severe storms has caused Western Mass News to declare today a First Warning Weather Day.
The best chance for storms in greater Springfield is through the mid and late afternoon - likely from about 2 p.m. through 7 p.m.
A strong cold front will slowly move through the area and will continue to be the focal point for showers and storms.
This front will push eastward early this evening and storms will diminish. As we gradually clear late night, a westerly breeze will deliver much more comfortable air tomorrow through the start of the weekend.
