As the clock ticks down toward the start of a new school year, some of Springfield's top officials took a tour of several schools on Monday.
It was all a part of the Springfield school renovation tour.
Some of the schools visited included Van Sickle Middle School, Kennedy School, and Rebecca Johnson School.
Seven facilities were toured overall.
More than $3 million will be invested into all of the schools over the summer and fall of next year for renovations.
Some of the improvements include energy upgrades. The plans have been in the works for the past six years.
