AGAWAM, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

Six Flags New England and The Carl Joseph Walker-Hoover Foundation hosted their 'Back To School Anti-Bullying Day' Saturday.

The event spreads awareness about the negative effects of bullying.

1 in 7 students in grades k-12 is either a bully or a victim of bullying.

"Its been fantastic. I've seen quite a few people walking with their buddy bans today and we've sold quite a few today. I think it's going to be a very successful today," said Linda Butterfield.

Guests were also encouraged to sign an anti-bullying pledge.

The foundation is in memory of 11-year old Carl, who took his life after being repeatedly tormented at school.
