Sunshine prevails through the afternoon

Posted: Updated:
SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

It was a cool comfortable start to the day but like yesterday  temperatures have been climbing fast and will be back into the 80s this afternoon. Skies will be sunny all afternoon long and although temperatures will reach into the middle 80s humidity levels will stay fairly low so it will make for a nice afternoon to be outdoors!

A huge dome of high pressure will continue to supply us with plenty of sunshine for the rest of the week along with warm, dry afternoons and cool comfortable nights. Overnight lows will dip into the middle 50's with daytime highs in the middle 80's. We can expect this to last into the start of the weekend.

Dry air has the ability to cool efficiently and warm up efficiently. This allows temperatures to have big swings from the morning lows to the afternoon highs. So temperatures will go from near fifty in the morning to the middle 80s in the afternoon's.

The start of The Big E is looking fantastic with sunny skies and warm temperatures!  A cold front will move through Saturday night and may bring us a light shower but we are not expecting much with it, just a few clouds and cooler temperatures.

The front will dry up as it moves closer to western Mass.  On the other side of the front a cooler more fall-like air mass moves in for the start and middle of next week. Meanwhile, sunshine will prevail. We are not expecting much rain over the next 10 days which is great news for the first week of The Big-E.
