It may surprise you because many New England residents get a pretty bad reputation when it comes to being happy, but according to a new survey, those living in the Bay State do pretty well.
According to a new study from WalletHub, Massachusetts is ranked the happiest state and the ninth happiest in the country.
The survey - which examined all 50 states and the District of Columbia - factored in emotional and physical well-being, work environment, and community and recreational activities.
Utah topped the list, while West Virginia landed at the bottom of the list as the least happy state.
