Local parishioners meet for Papal mass viewing party

Posted: Updated:

Our Lady of Blessed Sacrament in Westfield held a viewing party of the Papal mass for those who couldn't make the trip to Philadelphia.

The church opened their doors for those that still wanted to watch it together as a community.

The doors opened at 3:15 p.m. Mass began at 4 p.m.

Father Dan Pacholec says Pope Francis visiting the United States has been an amazing experience that people of all backgrounds have been touched by the experience of seeing him whether on television or in person.

"Certainly everybody can watch it on television in their own homes, but there's something about being together as a community and experiencing it together so it would be as if we were going to Philly together," said Pacholec.

The purpose of Pope Francis visit is the World Meeting of Families. But, people that Western Mass News spoke with say it also helped strengthen their faith.

This is Pope Francis' final scheduled public appearance but Father Dan Pacholec says he's had an impact on the community here to last a lifetime.
