Posted: Updated:

State police are investigating a fatal hit and run in Shelburne Friday afternoon.

Around 3:40 p.m., State Police from the Shelburne barracks responded to a three-vehicle crash on Route 2.

51-year-old Sarah Sessions of Heath was transported to Baystate Franklin Medical Center where she later died.

The operator of another vehicle, a 64-year-old woman from Shelburne, was also transported to BFMC with serious injuries.

Following the crash, police say 20-year-old Wyatt Pease of Buckland fled the scene. He was later located and placed under arrest.

Pease was "traveling on Route 2 West in a 1994 Nissan Altima at a high rate of speed when his vehicle rear-ended a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am, pushing that vehicle into the eastbound travel lane."

Police say the Pontiac was then struck by a 2004 Honda Odyssey, which was traveling eastbound at the time.

Pease is being charged with:

1. Motor Vehicle Homicide by Negligent Operation
2. Motor Vehicle Homicide by Reckless Operation
3. Operating Under the Influence of Liquor
4. Leaving the Scene of a Crash Involving Personal Injury or Death
5. Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Crash
6. Speeding
7. Following Too Closely

Pease was held on $5000.00 bail. He will be arraigned in Greenfield District Court on Monday.
