It's shaping up to be a damp end to the work week but the good news in the long holiday weekend is looking fantastic with plenty of sunshine and temperatures moderating a few degrees each day.
A warm front is approaching the region from the west giving us a mostly cloudy start. This front will bring a few showers to western Massachusetts by mid to late morning with perhaps some early morning drizzle.
As this front pushes northward in the afternoon, we may see some glimpses of sun as a gusty breeze and a bit of mugginess develops. It's not going to be a washout, but you'll need the umbrella on stand by all day especially early evening as a cold front delivers additional rainfall.
Some communities could see a brief downpour.
Be prepared to dry off the bench for the high school football games. The rain will be winding down around start time with most of the game being rain-free. Most of western Mass. will pick up about 1/4" to 1/2" of rain with some locally higher amounts possible.
This front will continue moving eastward overnight tonight and a fantastic weekend is on the way. We'll start cool and we could see scattered frost Sunday morning, but we've got a warming trend Sunday afternoon and especially Monday when highs will push into the low 70s!
