Shoplifters throw merchandise out window, caught by police

HADLEY, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

Hundreds of dollars worth of purses were stolen from Marshalls in Hadley.

Police located the shoplifters at East St. and Bay Road. 

The passengers threw the purses out of their window before they were stopped by police.

34-year-old Carlos Cruz of Springfield, 44-year-old Madeline Lopez of Holyoke, and 27-year-old Mathew Atchison of Holyoke were all charged with larceny over $250. 

The three stole more than $400 worth of merchandise from Marshalls on Russell St. 

Police say Cruz was also charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. He was released on bail.

Lopez and Atchison were transported to the Hampshire County House of Correction. They will be arraigned on Tuesday.
