SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - We are going to close out the holiday weekend with the warmest day of the week as temperatures will top out almost 10 degrees above normal tomorrow afternoon. A cold front brings some showers to the region on Tuesday followed by much cooler air late in the week.
Temperatures will fall off quickly after sunset once again tonight but it will not be as cold as last night. Lows tonight will fall back into the lower 40s. After a chilly start tomorrow morning temperatures will rebound quickly in the afternoon and highs will top out in the low to mid 70s tomorrow afternoon. A cold front brings some showers to the region on Tuesday followed by a big cool down late week. Highs on Friday and Saturday may only top out in the low to mid 50s.
The autumn colors are brightening and showing the reds of the maples due to the cool nights and mild days lately. This brings out sugars in the leaves which is responsible for those reddish hues. Near peak color can be found along the Mohawk trail with peak foliage northward into NH and VT. The only area with past peak conditions now is northern Maine and Coos county NH including the Presidential Range.
