First Warning

Bright but cold Sunday

Posted: Updated:
SPRINGFIELD, MA (AP) -

A winter chill is in the air today. Temperatures fell into the 20s all across western Mass this morning with a solid freeze putting an end to the growing season. It will be a pretty afternoon with plenty of blue skies and sunshine however it will remain cold with temperatures only reaching into the middle and upper 40s, way below normal for this time of year!

Temperatures will plunge once again tonight with near record low temperatures and a hard freeze throughout western MA! The record low for tomorrow is 19 set in 1978.It will be close. No doubt you'll have to dress for winter as you head off to work and school tomorrow morning.  It will still be chilly tomorrow afternoon too but we should reach close to 50 with full sunshine and a lighter breeze. More good news, if you don't like the cold. A mid-week warm up is expected with temperatures climbing closer to more seasonable levels by Tuesday afternoon.

There are no big storms in sight this week just lots of clouds Tuesday through Thursday as a weak front drapes across the the area.
