Record Lows this morning but warm-up on the way

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

It was record breaking cold this morning! Temperatures fell into the teens across western Mass. In fact, we got down to 16 degrees smashing the old record for today  (October 19th) of 19 degrees set back in the 1978. The average low for this time of year is in the middle 30s! This morning felt morning like January!

It will feel a bit better this afternoon as temperatures reach near 50. Milder autumn weather returns starting tomorrow with temperatures climbing closer to more seasonable levels. Readings should push past 60 by tomorrow afternoon as a warm front settle across the area.

There are no big storms in sight this week but there will be lots of clouds Tuesday through Thursday as this warm front stalls over southern New England. The best chance of a shower will come Thursday afternoon as a cold front sweeps through.
