WEST SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

Road closures in West Springfield will go into effect on Monday. Drivers will have to find alternate routes when traveling through Rt. 5 North.

Crews have been working on the Memorial Ave. rotary replacement project for months to re-vamp the area. Tomorrow's closures is part of the Mass DOT project to make improvements to Rt. 5.

Single lane ramp closures to and from the Memorial Ave. rotary and Rt. 5 north will begin Monday and continue to Tuesday.

According to Mass DOT, Memorial Ave. will remain open to traffic.

Traffic delays are expected in these areas.

"Well, it is kind of a pain to get on Memorial Avenue when you can't go around the rotary or if you're doing anything in Springfield because now you have to plan because 91 is a mess too. So, it just makes it interesting," said Wendy Johnson.

Mass DOT says the project is set to be completed by the end of winter.
