Torrential rain will lighten in the pre-dawn hours

Posted: Updated:

Rain, heavy at times will taper off for the morning commute. lt becomes windy and mild as temperatures slowly rise to the lower 60s by sunrise. An isolated power outage is possible as winds become gusty along with the soft ground from tonight's rainfall.

We can expect a solid 1-2" of rain across western Mass. Already we've received over an inch in Westfield, Northampton and many communities west of I-91. We need it, but we've dealt with some minor street flooding. A tree has even come down in Amherst on Pine St. causing some power outages. Expect partial sunshine by midday as we dry out. We'll have a moderate breeze with temperatures spiking into the low 70s in the Greater Springfield area.

By the way, don't forget to set you clock back one hour before you go to bed Saturday night. We go back to Standard time. This means we gain an extra hour of sleep, the sun will come up an hour earlier but will set an hour earlier as well. Sunrise on Sunday is 6:23 but will set at 4:45!
