SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) -

The family of Saturday night's murder victim spoke with Western Mass News tonight. They say that 40-year-old Fan Cheung Li was delivering food when the incident happen.

Police say a pedestrian walking down Homestead Avenue noticed a man laying on the street just after 10PM Saturday night.

Officers were called to the scene and determined that the man had been shot.

The father of 3 has been working for his family owned restaurant 906 Homwin Chinese Restaurant for the past 6 years. The online order Li was delivering was placed around 9PM to be delivered to Homestead Avenue.

According to the family, when Li arrived two men were waiting for him.

When officers arrived on scene, they performed CPR. Li was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police say the motive for the murder could be a robbery but they say that it is still an ongoing investigation.

Li leaves behind his wife and three children ages four, three, and one and a half.

The family mourning the loss of their loved one tells Western Mass News that Li was the sole provider in the household. His wife said she doesn't know how their children will get to school this week because she doesn't know how to drive.

Springfield Police Commissioner John Barbieri reminded the public that the neighborhood is still a safe place and that it will remain that way.
