Diminishing winds and cold tonight

Posted: Updated:

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - After a windy afternoon which saw winds gusting to 40 mph at times we will see the winds relax a bit tonight and under partly cloudy skies temperatures drop back into the mid to upper 20s. The end of the weekend is looking bright and less windy. Highs top off in the low to middle 50s tomorrow afternoon under mostly sunny skies. Winds will run between 5-10 mph tomorrow afternoon.

High pressure builds in to start the work week. This will give us a lighter wind and continued dry weather. Other than a slight drop in temperature on Tuesday, we're gradually warming through the end of the week. We'll likely sit near 60 both Thursday and Friday before the next cold front moves through for another weekend cool-down.

The Jet Stream will continue driving storms into the Great Lakes region for the next two weeks. This means temperatures will generally remain above average along the east coast. We'll have pulses of cold that last a day or two in between after the passage of a cold front. The end of the month near or after Thanksgiving may get stormy.
