Growing up in Northeast Ohio, First Warning Meteorologist Jacob Wycoff got hooked on weather at a very early age.

The spring of 1993 featured the “Storm of the Century” Blizzard, burying the region under nearly two feet of snow.  A month later, a small tornado touched down in his hometown.  Finally, in 1996, the movie Twister was released, solidifying Jacob’s desire to one day become a meteorologist.

Twister remains as Jacob’s favorite movie.

Jacob graduated from Western Connecticut State University with a degree in Operational and Theoretical Meteorology.  During that time, he interned under some great meteorologists, including Bob Ryan at WRC-TV in Washington, DC; Vytas Reid at WBFF-TV in Baltimore, MD; and Geoff Fox and Matt Scott at WTNH-TV in New Haven, CT.

Upon graduation, Jacob joined EarthNetworks, the parent company for WeatherBug.  He worked with TV stations across the U.S. to use WeatherBug’s live data and camera images on-air.

Jacob covered multiple tropical systems and snow storms for WeatherBug, including hurricanes Earl, Irene, and Isaac.

Jacob is a member of both the National Weather Association and the American Meteorological Society.

He was thrilled to join the First Warning Weather team in November 2015.

In his spare time, Jacob enjoys cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Boston Red Sox.  He enjoys traveling, photography, and hiking with his wife, Sujata.
