The Angels Take Flight program provided suitcases and backpacks to children in the foster care system on Saturday.
Many of those children travel with their stuff in a trash bag. Fifty suitcases and backpacks were given out today. They were filled with stuffed animals, toothpaste and pajamas.
"This journey that children experience is really a turbulent transition of being taken from their homes or having to be put into a safe house with little to nothing but the clothes on their backs," said Tamara Blake, President of Angels Take Flight.
Blake says that having a piece of luggage to call their own is huge for them. "It restores their dignity," she said.
Last year, more than 1,000 pieces were given out to children.
